Bodega Matarromera is found right in the heart of the Ribera de Duero. Its facilities are partially buried in the north hillside of the Duero Valley with beautiful views that towers above the whole valley of the municipal district of Valbuena de Duero in Valladolid. Matarromera is born with clear international successes and keeps on wining most prestigious awards and recognition already enjoyed over its whole business development.
Bodegas Familiares Matarromera was founded in 1988 by Carlos Moro, third generation of a family dedicated to vine growing. After the success of Matarromera we opened 6 wineries more in 5 different appellations of origin within Spain, becoming the biggest owner of vineyard in the Castilla y León region. We control the full process from the vineyard to bottling, we focus on the production of high quality wines which has granted us worldwide reputation including great reviews from many different US magazines such as Wine Spectator (participating regularly in their invitation only Grand Tour events), Wine & Spirits Magazine (selected twice in their Top 100 Wineries of the Year) and Wine Enthusiast.
Carlos Moro is not only the owner and founder of Bodegas Matarromera, but also winemaker and winegrower that represent the third generation of a family dedicated to winemaking. He is a tireless worker with a unique understanding of the importance of innovation, sustainability and respect for the environment in creating premium high-quality products.
Together with Carlos Moro, Iván de Domingo natural from Ribera del Duero has been working as enologist in Italy, Argentina, New Zealand, USA (Washington) and France (Languedoc) being now the enologist in Bodega Matarromera. Always supervised by Félix González, head winemaker of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, during the last 25 years, and Carlos Moro, owner and founder.
