Wine Description

Raw Materials: 


Own vineyards. Santorcaz Estate.


Altitude 820 m above sea level.


Variety: 100% Tinta del País.


Age of the vines: 20 years old, trellis system.


Spring pruning to control the number of clusters.


Approximate production: 5,000 kg per hectare.


Type of soil: top soils are sandy sediment, clay and limestone on lower layers.


Harvested by hand with grape selection in plastic boxes. 


 


Winemaking:


In stainless steel, 18,000 l vats that are temperature controlled.


Aged in barrels: 70% American oak and 30% French oak for 4 months, new or nearly new barrels, filled and emptied by gravity.


Natural clarification during aging, over the cold winter.


Production: about 100,000 bottles.. 


Tasting Notes

Intense cherry red with purple touches, deep with intense glycerol presence.


Complex nose with good intensity, aromas of dark fruits with floral and liquorice nuances. Slightly dark-roasted and mineral flavour due to its brief ageing.


On the mouth it has a complex, full-bodied, well-balanced structure with well-formed sweet, toasted tannins from the wood.
