Sarmentero is placed in a castilian house backyard in the tiny town of Quintanilla de Arriba, Valladolid.The property was acquired in 1942. Until that year, the house was part of the three miller houses of the town. From 1942 the house was dedicated to the production of tiles, cattle breeding and wheat and barley growing together with wine production for personal use.Generations of vine growers gave us the knowledge and discipline, love and passion our wine should have to show its best nuances.
Our wines are fermented with its natural yeasts and bacteria and are a low intervention style of wines.
Amparo Repiso Vallejo
Representing the fourth generation of Ribera del Duero winemakers, Amparo Repiso Vallejo has wine running through her veins. Since she was born, she was accustomed to seeing everyone in her family, from her father onwards, making wine. She studied winemaking and viticulture at La Santa Espina in Valladolid where she learned the nuances of working a vineyard, where as she says “it all starts to have a great wine”. She then studied enology for a year at Miguel de Cervantes University in Valladolid, completing her studies working at Pago de los Capellanes in Ribera del Duero. Her passion continued to grow and soon she was able to realize her dream of beginning her own winery in 2004. She began with just one barrel to share with family and friends, the reception was unanimous, everyone loved it. She slowing kept expanding and has been for the past eleven years. Nowadays, she proudly talks of how the wine has become its own and developed its own following, now producing roughly one hundred barrels of exceptional quality wine.
