Bodega Matarromera is found right in the heart of the Ribera de Duero. Its facilities are partially buried in the north hillside of the Duero Valley with beautiful views that towers above the whole valley of the municipal district of Valbuena de Duero in Valladolid. Matarromera is born with clear international successes and keeps on wining most prestigious awards and recognition already enjoyed over its whole business development.
Bodegas Familiares Matarromera was founded in 1988 by Carlos Moro, third generation of a family dedicated to vine growing. After the success of Matarromera we opened 6 wineries more in 5 different appellations of origin within Spain, becoming the biggest owner of vineyard in the Castilla y León region. We control the full process from the vineyard to bottling, we focus on the production of high quality wines which has granted us worldwide reputation including great reviews from many different US magazines such as Wine Spectator (participating regularly in their invitation only Grand Tour events), Wine & Spirits Magazine (selected twice in their Top 100 Wineries of the Year) and Wine Enthusiast.
The once-abandoned medieval cellar, where wine used to age in the time of Catholic Kings, is the heart of Bodegas Mocén. The estate was purchased and restored in 1988 by visionary restaurateur Jose Luis Solaguren, along with 140 hectares of prime vineyard land. Vineyards are planted 740 – 760 meters high to encourage balanced acidity. The average vine age is 27 years, giving depth and structure to the juice. Typical vine spacing is 1.5 x 3 meters, as close planting intensifies grape flavors. Soils of silt and sand with loose pebbles force the plants’ roots to dive deep, enhancing minerality.
Nexus Bodegas speaks of passion, inspiration, life and celebration. A blend of tradition and technology. Emotions that last.
Nexus Bodegas, located in Pesquera de Duero, the heart of Ribera del Duero, produces and markets quality red wines that reflect the typicity of the Tempranillo grape, our respect for the tradition and cultural identity of the region, the good work of a professional team committed to the values of the winery, the effort to take care of the smallest details with the aim to seduce.
The property has a total of 40 hectares of the Tempranillo Tinta Fina variety distributed in five plots in the towns of Piñel, Pesquera de Duero and La Horra; each of them with very different singularities in terms of soil type and orientation that will give the wines different qualities and great complexity.
Our Nexus style is elegance combined with the sensuality of refinement, red wines that represent the balance between the potential of our terroir with the finesse of the winemaking process, in which the fruit plays a leading role.
