Dominio Basconcillos
Dominio Basconcillos

Our vineyards and winery are located in an area of profound viticultural tradition of Ribera del Duero, a place where the Benedictine monks originally brought their knowledge in the cultivation of the vines. The place, with unique microclimatic conditions and located in one of the highest points of the Ribera del Duero, forms an unexpected valley at almost 1,000 metres above sea level in its 50 hectares. A privileged spot located at high altitude. With a noble historical past and wine tradition. The vineyards of Domino Basconcillos cover the gentle and long slopes that draw the geography of the Ribera del Duero.

Our philosophy is based on sustainability and respect for the environment, maintaining the perfect balance between tradition and the latest technologies, which allows us to produce natural wines of high expression that reflect the authentic essence of the Ribera del Duero and our respect for nature.

DOMINIO DEL ÁGUILA is a family winery based in La Aguilera, a small village in RIBERA DEL DUERO, and run by a couple formed by Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero, vigneron and architect respectively. Since 2010 we have joined our efforts to make a dream come true…

The winery is within the “Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero” and within the “Consejo Ecologico de Castilla y León”, the institution that regulates ORGANIC WINES.

The domain's greatest asset is the vineyard. we count with 30 hectares of very old vines, mostly in organic farming, apart from 5 additional hectares relatively young (under 50 years). We are grapes suppliers of some of the main wineries in the region since more than 10 vintages.

Our passion is the vineyard! Jorge comes from a family of many generations of vignerons. His studies were based in ‘Soil, viticulture and oenology’ at the Universities of Bordeaux and Burgundy. He worked with prestigious wineries such as Domaine De La Romanée-Conti for more than two years. He has also worked in Spain in the Vega Sicilia Group for a year and as technical director of Bodegas Arzuaga-Navarro for nine years. Since 2013 he works full time in Dominio del Águila.

Through all those years learning and gaining experience, we were also devoted to the recovering of family vineyards, till we have managed to get together as owners a very high quality vine patrimony, some real Grand Crus… where the ‘tempranillo’ is the true protagonist, living in a very friendly way with other varieties such as ‘blanca del país’, ‘bobal’, ‘garnacha’, ‘albillo’, ‘tempranillo gris’, etc.

Moreover, we have rehabilitated a traditional winery dated from the XVII century and six cellars/underground galleries dated from the XV century, which have been physically linked and where we can find now concrete tanks and oak barrels with the wine.

Starting with the viticulture and finishing with the wine making, in Dominio del Águila we really try hard to do everything in an artisanal way, being very respectful with nature and making a symbiosis of tradition and technical knowledge.

From the use of herb-infused juices to treat the vines (like valerian or mielenrama), to the non-flitration and non-fining the wines.

With these premises, the Dominio del Águila’s final goal is to make pure and fine wines. Organic wines which are able to age for a long long time, but, however, that can be enjoyed at any time.

All of them are elaborated with stemed grapes and trodden with the feet in the artisanal way. The malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels of the highest quality, as well as the aging in the underground galleries. Currently there are about 250 oak barrels.

The winery’s main brand is ‘DOMINIO DEL ÁGUILA’. It is a ‘vino reserva’ with more than 30 months aging in French oak barrels. Also we elaborate a claret and a red wine aged about 15 months, called ‘PÍCARO DEL ÁGUILA’. These wines are the basis of our work, but we also have a range of terroirs with a great personality, such as ‘CANTA LA PERDIZ’, a ‘gran reserva’ that age more than 40 months in oak barrels.

Emilio Moro
Emilio Moro

Located in the town of Pesquera in the Valladolid district, Emilio Moro is a family-owned winery with over 120 years of winemaking history in Ribera del Duero. The family owns 250 hectars of vineyards located in several parcels in Pesquera del Duero.

The average age of the vines is 25 to 30 years, and the vineyards are located at high altitude -1,950 feet - on the banks of the Duero River. The first vineyards were planted in 1932 in the year of the founder, Emilio Moro's birth and the winery works with a pure clone of the Tinto Fino transplanted from their earliest vines. Soils are clay with gravel and chalk, and the area is endowed with the harsh, continental climate that defines the unique character of Ribera wines.

The history of Bodegas Emilio Moro dates back three generations. The grandfather of the third generation of Emilio Moro was born in 1891, and his son, Emilio Moro, was born in 1932. Both were born into a wine growing environment, surrounded by vineyards. They grew up treading grapes in their hometown of Pesquera de Duero in the province of Valladolid.

Emilio Moro instilled in his son a love of wine and his son, in turn, passed this on to the third generation, who currently manage the winery.

Innovation was born in our wineries when Emilio Moro planted the Tinto Fino Clone, differentiating us forever. From that moment on, we've not stopped innovating. From the development of indigenous yeasts, digital field notebooks, drones and geolocation in the vineyard, to our flagship sensing project, Sensing4Farming.

In addition, there is a film commitment to innovation in communication, and the creation of a culture of innovation that involves all stakeholders in our value chain.

Ferratus Cuevas Jimenez
Ferratus Cuevas Jimenez

Respect for the professional past and present of Cuevas Jiménez is clear right from the choice of the FERRATUS brand name for the wines from this family, who come from Ribera del Duero. The iron and steel structure running across the façade of their functional, contemporary winery represents a letter F written backwards and this logo has become increasingly well recognised on the Spanish winemaking scene. Although the Latin FERRATUS can be translated iron clad, the family's original objective was not to make strong wines, but rather to make the most elegant wines in Ribera del Duero. With the F of finesse. With the F of future.

Ferratus has become in the last twenty years a prominent winegrower in the Ribera del Duero appellation of Spain.

20 hectares of vineyards in ownership and 15 controlled, some of them over 60 years old, planted at an altitude of over 860 meters, grown on different types of soil. Located on different carefully chosen locations in the Ribera del Duero area to provide FERRATUS with the best Tempranillo grapes.

The San Juan del Monte vineyard, 17 hectares, 25 years old, at almost 900 meters of altitude, is an element of pride and a guarantee of quality for our wines.

Ferratus owns three hectares of goblet-pruned vines in the Pago de Santa Cruz Estate naturally protected against adverse weather conditions and grow at an altitude of about 860 meters. They are a grape-producing treasure, the best guarantee to produce the quality expected from our FERRATUS Sensaciones wine.
