What’s in Your Wine Kit? (Please Note: You may receive a comparable replacement depending on wine availability.)

  • Hermanos del Villar Oro de Castilla Verdejo 2019 – Made from organically grown grapes, this wine is a standard bearer in typicity, a true classic of the region. It highlights the high elevation and stony soils that produce some of Rueda’s top wines. A bit of lees enhances mouthfeel and texture. Light bright yellow. Aromas of Meyer lemon and green apple are accented by suggestions of chalky minerals and sea salt. Dry and racy on the palate, offering lively citrus fruit and fresh fig flavors and a subtle touch of tarragon. Closes on a juicy note, featuring resonating stoniness and very good focus and length. The grassy, fresh, citrus aroma and flavor profile is quite similar to Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire, except that with Oro de Castilla there’s also a firm minerality that recalls the best examples of Sancerre.
  • Bodegas Naia 2019 – From the La Seca area, known as the Grand Cru of Rueda and where some of the oldest vineyards of the appellation can be found. This wine is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and French oak, with a touch of lees-aging. Straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, bright and vivid. Intense on the nose, with notes of stone fruit (peach, apricot) and subtle hints of fennel, and bush grass. In the mouth it is powerful and tasty. Very fruity wine, with a balanced freshness and a long aftertaste in which all these nuances reappear amplified.
  • Torremoron Tinto 2019 – Hailing from a tiny village of 90 people, Torremoron highlights beloved local 100+ year old bush vines. The wine is fresh and unadulterated, made in stainless steel with minimum extraction and no oak treatment, it is a Ribera Tempranillo like no other. Fresh black and blue fruit aromas are lifted and sharpened by a peppery note and a suggestion of smoky minerals. Vibrant and focused on the palate, offering intense boysenberry and cassis flavors that intensify with aeration. Seamless and expressive, with no rough edges and a long, fruit tannic finish that echoes the blueberry note.
  • Vizcarra Senda del Oro Roble 2016 – Made by a fourth-generation grower, who farms his vineyards by hand, this wine is estate bottled. The wine is balanced, with a restrained oak treatment. Ruby-red. Mineral-tinged raspberry, incense and floral pastille scents pick up a spicy accent with air. Juicy, sweet and seamless in texture, offering concentrated red fruit and spicecake flavors that put on weight as the wine opens up. The spice and floral notes carry through a long, energetic, focused finish shaped by silky, even tannins.
