History

Built in 2002, the modern Pagos del Rey winery rises majestically above its surroundings. The dramatic cantilevered roof protects the interior from the baking heat of the sun. The beautifully designed reception and office areas and vast working winery are constructed as one continuous space with no pillars. The reception area is lit up by the grand skylight that allows for panoramic views over acres of vineyards. This cleverly designed space glistens with stainless steel and the latest in wine making technology.

Our Process

The location in the small town of Olmedillo de Roa in the Burgos province was not by chance; the decision was driven by the strong ties of the Solís family to the region. Félix Solís Fernandez’s wife was born near here, and Felix’s maternal grandfather was a grape supplier to the legendary Vega Sicilia. The cellars hold a sculpture of the Greek goddess, Ariadne, holding a bunch of grapes. Ariadne is the symbol of wine, depicting the seasonal arrival of spring when the vines awaken. Classical music and opera are often played in the cellar as the wines slumber in air-conditioned cool.

Altos de Tamaron Crianza

Type: Crianza

Deep cherry red color with violet hues. This wine exhibits rich aromas of intense black fruit, cocoa, tobacco leaves and spicy oak. The palate is sumptuous and full bodied, with a long and elegant finish.

Altos de Tamaron Red

Type: Cosecha

Deep cherry red with purple tones. On the nose, aromas of ripe blackberry and licorice. The palate is silky and fruity with a long finish.

Altos de Tamaron Reserva

Type: Reserva

Deep cherry red color with tawny hues. This wine exhibits elegant and powerful aromas on the nose. The palate is complex, powerful and full bodied; perfectly integrated.

Altos del Tamaron Roble

Type: Cosecha

Deep cherry color with a violet hue. Rich fresh plum, cherry and berry fruits on the nose with fine toasted oak reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. The palate is broad, with expressive fruit, a touch of vanilla soft tannins and a lovely long finish.
