At Familia Martinez Bujanda we were looking for exceptional vineyards in the finest white wine producing regions in Spain. In April 2008 we found Finca Montepedroso in Castilla-León. Our new vineyard in Rueda consists of 25 hectares at 750 meters above the sea level with a brand new state-of-the-art winery that produces a single wine from this single vineyard. FINCA MONTEPEDROSO, 100% VERDEJO, is the only single vineyard estate wine in Rueda. Exclusively elaborated with estate grown Verdejo grapes and aged 5 months on the lees, Finca Montepedroso is a fresh and intense wine with the best characteristics of the Verdejo variety, with the tradition typical of the area. The winery represents a contemporary project, made of concrete, glass & brick; classic materials of Rueda, and it is perfectly integrated with the countryside, and respects the environment by using the sun’s energy and recovering the rainfall.
The grandson of a vineyard grower and winemaker in La Mancha, Lauren knew since he was a little boy about his grandfather’s work in the vineyards and cellar and was intrigued with what he grew up seeing as a labor of love. He always had the feeling that his studies at the university would be aimed towards agriculture and enology and as now his curriculum reflects so well: Agricultural Engineering Degree and a Degree in Enology; Currently Writing A Doctoral Thesis On Enology. Lauren’s philosophy is to work on traditionally based viticulture and with great respect for the environment, land and countryside.
Color: Lemon yellow with green frosted twinkles, clean, bright and very glyceric tears.
Nose: Clean aromatic ensemble, with high intensity. The notes of apricot, peach, fennel, green almond shell, anise seed, fresh fruits (lychee, grapefruit, green apple) show up. Recalls to fresh cut hay and light smoke touches mixed with mineral notes.
Palate: Velvety and silky entry developing to great volume and structure. The balanced acidity gives freshness and nerve. Long and tasty, fruity aftertaste, with an aftertaste sensation even more intense than in the nose phase, sowing up the recalls of fennel and anise seed.
