The company was founded by Avelino Vegas in Santiuste de San Juan Bautista, a province of Segovia. He started producing wines with grapes from vineyards in the area, especially Verdejo. The creation of the Rueda appellation in 1982 was the acknowledgement of the quality of white wines from the region. In 1993, the family expanded into Ribera del Duero. They now produce young wines with exceptional quality-price ratio, including and superb Crianzas and Reservas thanks to the important investment of more than 3000 new French and American oak barrels.
Avelino Vegas' technical manager Jose Manuel Corrales started in the world of wine with one of the most important wineries in Spain in the La Mancha area. He arriaved at Santiuste in 1997 to elaborate white wines in Rueda and red wines in Ribera del Duero. In those years, our winery has won more than 100 medals in the most important Wine Challenges in the world: Bordeaux, Brussels, Japan, Canada, Berlin and has also received the recognition of Robert Parker who says of our wines: “all 3 white wines are excellent values”. Our Crianza 2007 was rated 90 and Reserva 2005 is 90 Plus and 2004 is 92 Plus.

An unique wine elaborated from our oldest vineyards in D.O. Ribera del Duero by Jose Manuel Corrales. We elaborate this wine only the years when the vintage was exceptional in quality. This vintage, 2004, has a power and elegance from the Tempranillo grape that is not seen every year. Our most selected wine was elaborated with the highest quality Tempranillo grapes in structure and character. Intense cherry red colour with ruby borders. With a great finesse, elegance and intensity on the nose, it displays spicy and mineral notes, over a roasted and with ripe black fruits background (plum and prune). On the palate it is full, potent, high concentrated with present tannins but very polished.
Fuentespina Roble is a young wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero elaborated 100% of Tempranillo grapes from 50 years old vines and aged 7 months in New American oak barrels. The grapes used in the elaboration of this wine are rigorously controlled for hygiene standards, quality, acid content and pH levels. After the grapes are de-stemmed and crushing, a cold film maceration is carried out at 5C for a period of 72 hours to obtain the maximum potential from the primary aromas. They are fermented in stainless steel tanks between 18C and 22C for 10 days. When the alcoholic fermentation finishes the wine is racked to proceed with the malolactic fermentation. Elaborated exclusively with Tempranillo selected grapes from vineyards more than 50 years old. After an aging of 16 months, we obtain this superb wine. Due to the characteristics of our climate and soil, the Tempranillo grape has an exceptional tannic concentration to elaborate aged wines. Bodegas Fuentespina controls 385 Ha. of vineyards and advices the vine-growers specially during the harvest, to assure that the grapes arrive in the winery in a perfect mature level. Straw yellow color with light greenish borders, clean and bright. Great expressiveness on the nose, intermingling the own aromas of the Verdejo variety such as fresh cut hay and fennel, with the typical aromas of the tropical fruits like pineapple, guava and mango. On the palate is explosive, fruity and creamy; with a very fruity, long and silky end.
