Wine Reads: June-July Edition

Ribera and Rueda wines have made quite the splash this season. We’ve kept tabs on where our wines have gotten attention so far this summer and wanted to share the good news. Check out these articles and hopefully you’ll be inspired to pour yourself a glass tonight … you deserve it:

A long wine list can cause just about anybody to break a nervous sweat. Thank goodness Yahoo Lifestyle tells you how to order like an expert and lists tempranillo wines in their worldwide crash-course.

White wines of the region have also gotten nods: Telegraph’s list of the Best Wines to Drink This Summer includes one Rueda from Finca Lallana.

Jordan Mackay, co-author of NYT best-seller “Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto,” tells Food & Wine what to drink at your summer cook-out. According to Mackay, pairing a wine rich in fruity flavors with the smokiness of BBQ is the way to go!

Speaking of brisket, Men’s Journal calls Ribera del Duero standout Viña Sastre a “terrific barbecue wine” in The Best Red Wines for Summer.

Wine Enthusiast delves into “Spain’s Great Estates” and their passion for high quality wines.  Rueda’s Belondrade receives acclaim for its involvement with these 30 wineries, called Grandes Pagos de España.

High quality wines can also add some “umph” to your takeout dinner. Wine Enthusiast’s How to Pair Wines with Takeout Meals helps you to pair wine with that great plate of General Tso’s chicken from around the corner. We think delivery sushi with a light, fruity Rueda sounds like an ideal summer evening.
